When we talk about Starfire services, it begins and ends with our art handling. How we handle art objects is fundamental to all else that we do. Be it a small sculpture or a large painting, we recognize fully that the objects in our care are irreplaceable. As such, we use our many years of training and expertise to ensure that all objects are handled using the best practices and the utmost care.
Whether for an entire exhibitions for museums or for a single work in a client’s home, we give the same consideration and care in our handling and installation practices. Be it two dimensional or sculptural works, each object is considered and assessed for how best to handle, place, and install. Placement of artwork, depending on the environment and setting, is important to the presentation and safety of a work of art. Proper hardware is selected or customized as needed to ensure the safest installation. Whether for an entire exhibitions for museums or for a single work in a client’s home, we give the same consideration and care in our handling and installation practices.
Packing artwork is an art unto itself. First and foremost, great care is given in considering the artwork, where it is going, how it is getting there, and who will be unpacking it. This initial scrutiny is critical in determining the proper materials to use and how best to package it for secure transport and safe handling at its destination.
Starfire offers exclusive use local and regional transportation. Our cargo van and 20' insulated box truck are both equipped with air-ride suspension and climate control. Our truck's liftgate facilitates ease of maneuvering crates and other larger items during transport. Additionally, we offer full coordination of domestic and international shipping with leading industry shippers to transport beyond our region. No matter the distance, we can safely and securely get your artworks where they need to be.
Starfire offers professional in-house digital photography of collections. These hi-resolution images, color corrected and edited in house, can be printed as a catalogue or uploaded to a private link for remote reference. Photographed in our 400 square foot viewing room, there is little limitation to the size artwork we can accommodate.
Our services go beyond more conventional art logistics to include consultation, condition reporting, and cataloguing. We will also work with clients to troubleshoot or execute any need or want they may have with regards to their collection. Through experience and contacts with framers and conservators, we can help consult in the (re)framing or repairing of an artwork. Collections can be thoroughly inventoried, researched and digitized, which can then be presented as a booklet or catalogue. We can offer disaster response services and detailed condition reports. No matter the interest of the client, Starfire offers custom solutions for every collection.
